What's happening? Are you enjoying your vacation? Bored? Have you traveled? Anything new? Just letting your know Gfuzzy is still out there, reading, practicing art, doing math, and is willing to help/discuss your ideas. Keep smiling!
Hello again. Can you believe it's February? Anyway, it's a bleak Monday again, not gonna lie, as the kids say. Of course, you know what happens next. Ha!
So, I'm finding out, there are several types of people in the room One type says, I'm not gonna try. Another says that they will try, but they want me to do the work for them. Another type says that they will do the work and that they enjoy the challenge. If you want to know which one you are, grab a mirror, then go look at your Khan Mastery Score. It's a reflection of how hard you're willing to try, what kind of sacrifices you are willing to make.
Right now, I'm going to sacrifice an hour for Khan Academy statistics. Peace.
Today we were lucky enough to share an hour with a published author! Ms. Heather Vescent was gracious enough to answer our questions and relate her journey. She shared her experiences writing in several genres, such as poetry, micro blogging, and screenplays.
Most impressive was her detailed walk through of how she performs research in technical writing. How many times has a teacher asked you to do research? How many times have you actually tried to deep research? These are called "deep dives" and "down the rabbit hole". The joy should be in the discovery. These pursuits release dopamine, the reward chemical. The more you practice, the stronger the connection grows in your mind between the experience and the performance.
So, thanks to Heather, we can reaffirm our approach. Read, research, write, and edit. This process grows your mind, grows your character. You'll see the world differently. For creative writing, get out and view the world, even if it's just a tree in your yard. Take a long look at it as if your wanted it to paint it later with words.
Heather also told us to look to the future. Be alert. Who is trying to influence you? What messages are you seeing because you visited certain websites, watched certain videos? Large corporations, Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft (Xbox), Sony, want your attention because they want your money. How smart are you? Do you know when you're being watched? Do you know when you're being manipulated? Search engine optimization algorithms will steer your attention to portals that want your cash. Choose wisely!
So, we're inspired and grateful for an opportunity to leap into the world of a published author and futurist. Let's see where the rabbit hole takes us!
Well here we are in a new year. Are we new people? Wait, what? Just because the year is new, does that mean we have new behaviors, habits, systems? Let’s find out!
Along with that, if you find that the pandemic of 2019 and 2020 is wearing on you, find someone with whom you can chat. Talking through your ideas will help. Please continue to hope and work for the best. Keep smiling!
What's happening? How is everybody doing? Keep smiling! Let'e hear from you! What's the word about middle school? Hoe is Zoom working/not working for you?
What's happening? Sure wish I had good news for you. All I have for now is that we are measurably increasing our work capacity. While that might not mean much to you, it's significant to me. We see the evidence of the quantity and quality of our work improving with each passing day. So thanks for that!
And if you need help later in the day, send an email. I'll create a Zoom or reply in Google Slides! Help is everywhere in the digital age. Make sure you use it now.
What's happening? How are you? I know, I know...it's tough. Tough times don't last, tough people do. Nevertheless, if you need to chat, I'm here. You can leave comments, connect on Twitter or Instagram, send an email. I'll be happy to listen. Here are three things that can help you in any difficult situation:
Faith. Faith in yourself and the work you do.
Hope. Hope as a driving emotion to action.
Love. Love of what you're doing, art, music, exercise, cooking, writing, and the love you generate in others.
These come from a very famous book. Try using them each and every day in some small way. You'll be glad you did.
Take care and chat soon!
Welcome back! I'm sorry I have not written here for two months. No excuses or explanations can make up for this lack of effort on my part. I want to say hi and thank you to Abigail for reminding me that I should try harder! Yup. No more slacking! Thanks Abigail.
Right now, the class of 2021 is attending VAPA in a Zoom class while I'm watching Apple's new product event. They just announced the HomePod mini and iPhone 12! Woo hoo!
So, I hope all of you who are reading this are trying to be healthy and safe. Remember, I'm here to listen and help if you have questions.
No, I'm not buying you the new iPhone. Sorry. Nevertheless, I will share with you the tricks and tips you need to build wealth, especially knowledge.
Continue to eat healthy, exercise, and sleep well. All of these concepts are linked to great performance, so you can be your best and create wealth.
Remember, attitude is everything and my attitude is all helping those who want to improve.
Just checking in. Anybody else not liking this? Distance learning requires a huge adjustment. Hang in there!
Just a quick note to see if anybody is out there. Just kidding. I'm typing this while trying to decipher the current messages from our district "leadership". Who sends a document that requires the user to type out the entire link? This is 2020, not 1997. Anyway, this is indicative of how things will go the next few months, so hang on to your hat.
If you haven't performed an online search of VUCA, let me help. Here: VUCA
See tech department? That's how you embed a link. Anyway, if that article is difficult to process, just remember that VUCA means life can and will change faster and more radically than we would like, so the best you can do is prepare yourself with supplies of food, water, clothing, and LOTS of BRAIN POWER.
